WickedGov strives to expand and improve its content, but sometimes, pages are clearly inappropriate for inclusion. In certain cases, they may be speedily deleted (without discussion) under the criteria in this policy. If a page does not meet any strict criterion, the only way to delete it is to open a request for deletion, where the community will try to find a consensus on what to do.

General criteria[edit source]

These criteria apply to all pages (in all namespaces), as well as files.

G1 - Patent nonsense
This criterion includes any page that is complete gibberish with no meaning whatsoever (example: "eifjewo32vdlbks"). It also covers pages that are intended to have meaning but are so utterly incomprehensible that no editor could possibly understand what it attempts to say. Criterion G1 does not include pages that a reasonable person could understand, even if the meaning is obviously vandalism or outside of the project scope.
If a page was possibly created as an experiment with editing, it may be more appropriate to use the following criterion instead. New users could be offended if their edits are called "nonsense".

G2 - Test page
Test pages are pages that were obviously created as an experiment and have no useful history (example: "Hello, world!"). If an editor is unsure whether a page was a test or simply vandalism, it is important to assume good faith and delete the page as a test. Test editing should be done in the sandbox.

G3 - Unambiguous vandalism
Blatant, deliberate attempts to degrade the wiki may be deleted under this criterion. This criterion includes deliberate misinformation. In cases of uncertainty, deletion as a test page is more appropriate. Most users do not like to be labeled as vandals.

G4 - Recreation of a page deleted by a request for deletion
A page substantially identical to a page deleted at requests for deletion may be speedily deleted under this criterion, unless new information has come to light that calls the previous RfD into question. This criterion applies regardless of the title of the page.
Templates: {{db-g4}}, {{db-repost}}
G6 - Uncontroversial technical deletions
This criterion is for uncontroversial technical maintenance, including (but not limited to):
  • Redirects (or other pages with trivial edit history) that hold up page moves.
  • Pages obviously created in error, files obviously uploaded in error, and redirects created by page moves from obviously erroneous titles.
Templates: {{db-g6}}, {{db-move}} (for pages preventing a move), {{db-error}} (for obvious errors)
G7 - Author request
Any user may request speedy deletion of a page they created themselves, but only when no other user has made significant constructive contributions.
Templates: {{db-g7}}, {{db-request}}
G9 - Unambiguous copyright infringement
Pages that are pure copies from a non-free source with no evidence of permission should be deleted. If there is useful non-infringing content on the page, only the infringing revisions should be deleted. To qualify under this criterion, the source of the copy must be identified.
Templates: {{db-g9}}, {{db-copyvio}}
G10 - Attack page
Pages that serve only to attack, disparage, or oppose their subject must be deleted and not restored. In severe and obvious cases, suppression may also be required.
Templates: {{db-g10}}, {{db-attack}}
G11 - Advertising or promotion
WickedGov is written from a neutral point of view and is not a place for advertising or promotion. "Advertising" under this criterion includes support for a company, organization, product, person, point of view, or any other idea or thing. If there is useful content on the page, the advertising should be removed, and the page should not be deleted. Pages created by an automated spam script may be presumed to be advertising.
Templates: {{db-g11}}, {{db-spam}}

Categories[edit source]

C1 - Empty categories
Any empty category, except an active maintenance category or other category which by its nature may become empty from time to time, falls under this criterion. Categories may be deleted under this criterion 7 days after being tagged.

Files[edit source]

F1 - Duplicate file
Newly uploaded files that duplicate another file of the same or higher quality.
Template: {{db-f1}}
F2 - Unreadable or empty file
Files that are unreadable using standard software or contain no content. This also includes file description pages with no associated file.
Templates: {{db-f2}}, {{db-nofile}}
F3 - Fair use
Files uploaded under a claim of "fair use" with no evidence that the file is available under a free license. Fair use is prohibited for files according to the copyright policy.
Templates: {{db-f3}}, {{db-fairuse}}
F4 - Files available on Commons
Files available on WickedGov Commons in identical or better quality.
Templates: {{db-f4}}, {{Now Commons}}

Redirects[edit source]

R1 - Redirect to a deleted or nonexistent page
Redirects to pages that do not exist or that have been deleted when there is no good option for retargeting the redirect.
